Hera BioLabs Inc. has permitted RIKEN BRC to collect, preserve and distribute the biological materials containing piggyBac® transposon

  • Hera BioLabs Inc. (hereafter referred to as Hera) has generously permitted RIKEN BioResource Research Center (RIKEN BRC) to collect, preserve and distribute the biological materials containing piggyBac® transposon (hereafter referred to as piggyBac® Resources). RIKEN BRC is now able to receive, maintain, replicase and distribute the piggyBac® Resources for non-commercial, academic internal research purposes contingent upon the submission of the Limited Use License Agreement (hereafter referred to as LULA) specified by Hera. RIKEN BRC looks forward to receiving many deposits and requests from the scientific community.
  • When you develop piggyBac® Resources, please consider depositing them with RIKEN BRC. Such deposits will significantly contribute to the promotion of science. In addition, depositing will relieve you of the burden for time-consuming preparation and distribution of bioresources to fellow researchers. We will make our best efforts to carefully preserve and maintain the deposited bioresources to meet the needs of researchers around the world.

Please note that genetically modified materials containing the piggyBac® transposon, or other derived materials, are distributed only through RIKEN BRC or repositories under a license from Hera. If the transposon vectors are used, piggyBac® transposase must be obtained directly from Hela or a Hera-authorized institute. RIKEN BRC will provide a copy of executed LULA upon written request from Hera. Please be aware of this.

If you have any questions regarding the permission by Hera, please contact Miwako Kusayama at Center Director Office, RIKEN BRC ( tsukuba-mta@ml.riken.jp ). For questions regarding specific resources and the distribution procedure, please contact the Gene Engineering Division ( dna_sec.brc@riken.jp ).
