As one of core infrastructure centers in the world for research and development of science, technology and innovation, RIKEN BRC strategically and systemically receives deposit\/donation, manages, upgrades and distributes bioresources and the associated information. RIKEN BRC conducts the following three Programs:\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <ol class=\"decorated-orderedlist mission_c\">\r\n      <li>\r\n          <strong>Bioresource Infrastructure Program<\/strong> focusing on five important bioresources of the world\u2019s highest level and their associated information.\r\n      <\/li>\r\n      <li>\r\n          <strong>Key Technology Development Program<\/strong> in order to effectively, efficiently and sustainably conduct the Bioresource Infrastructure Program.\r\n      <\/li>\r\n      <li>\r\n          <strong>Bioresource Frontier Program<\/strong> in order to respond appropriately and timely to social and research trends and needs.\r\n<\/li>\r\n    <\/ol>\r\n<p>\r\nIn addition, training courses for technology transfer and dissemination of technologies to the research community as well as public relations activities are actively conducted.\r\n<\/p>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Read more:\r\n      <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/web.brc.riken.jp\/en\/for_public\/resource\"\r\n        >For General Public &gt; What is bioresource?<\/a>\r\n    <\/p>\r\n  <\/section>\r\n  \r\n  <section class=\"chapter\">\r\n    <h4 class=\"middleheading\">\r\n      <span class=\"chapternum\">1<\/span>Bioresource Infrastructure Program\r\n    <\/h4>\r\n    <p>\r\n        RIKEN BRC receives, preserves and distributes cutting edge bioresources and information by comprehending accurately social and research trends and needs.  RIKEN BRC is focusing on the following five bioresources and associated information:\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <ol class=\"decorated-orderedlist\">\r\n      <li><strong>Experimental Animal Division<\/strong>: mouse strains<\/li>\r\n      <li><strong>Experimental Plant Division<\/strong>: experimental plants such as Arabidopsis and Brachypodium<\/li>\r\n      <li><strong>Cell Engineering Division<\/strong>: cultured cell lines of human and animal origin including iPS cells<\/li>\r\n      <li><strong>Gene Engineering Division<\/strong>: DNA materials of human, animal and microbial origin<\/li>\r\n      <li><strong>Microbe Division<\/strong>: microbial strains including microbial strains of bacteria, archaea, fungi classified in Risk Group 1 or 2.<\/li>\r\n      <li><strong>Integrated Bioresource Information Division<\/strong>: Information associated with the five bioresources<\/li>\r\n    <\/ol>\r\n    <p>In order to promote the most efficient and effective use and application of these bioresources, we provide cutting-edge handling technologies and information. Furthermore, RIKEN BRC is developing its own quality management system specialized for operations of bioresource project, based on 19 years of experience in implementing the ISO 9001:2015 international quality management standards. Specifically, we are developing techniques for cryopreservation, nuclear transfer, ICSI, and generation of mouse models and high-quality stem cell lines in mice. \r\nIn addition, we participate in the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium and organize information related to gene function by analyzing mouse phenotypes.
